When I'm using the Sat Nav, I normally set the side bar to display a compass. Somehow it's comforting to know that I'm driving in approximately the right direction :).
I notice a little gold circle on the perimeter of the compass disc, and have often wondered what its function was. I thought initially it might be the bearing of the final destination, but I've checked it a few times now, and it doesn't seem to be.
Has anyone else noticed this/worked out what it does?

I'd imagine that's the Qibla marker, which you can toggle in the navigation settings.

To quote Wikipedia: "The Qibla, is the direction that should be faced when a Muslim prays during Ṣalāṫ. It is fixed as the direction of the Kaaba in the Hejazi city of Mecca."
