I've recently bought a First Edition with which I have a very uncomfortable problem. Because of a long-standing back problem I have to have the seat back very upright. Consequently the head rest is pushing my head forward and making driving very unpleasant. Moving the head rest up or down does not help. I have had this problem with previous cars and the very simple answer is to take the head rest out, turn it 180 degrees and put it back on the seat. Job done, comfortable seat! No matter how hard I try I cannot get the headrest off my E Pace seat. The collars around the supporting rods do not have the facility to release the rods, in fact when I study it closely I can see that the rods do not go up and down, it is just the head rest itself that moves. I have contacted my dealer who tried his best to find me a solution but quoted safety and legal reasons as the reason for the head rest not being removable. Direct contact with Jaguar resulted in the very same answer but in a very sharp and arrogant way! Anybody got any ideas?

In some post somewhere somebody said that if you can get underneath where it slides up and down there are some clips you can push that will let you pop it out... so maybe that's the answer

Alternatively I'm sure your friendly neighborhood body shop may have some ideas, some of which that may include a Dremel tool and a welding torch

Thanks both. No, I haven't contacted a seat manufacturer although that is on my list if all else fails. As far as getting up into the seat, I have tried unsuccessfully! The seat has a solid plastic shell on the rear and it's impossible to remove without either specialist tools or the aforementioned Dremel tool. I can't get into the seat back at all. I thought it would be easier to attack the headrest itself but that is absolutely impossible, it is so well constructed that there is no room to get inside it.
