How do you check the full history of a used E Pace?

Looking at a used Jaguar E-Pace with around 50k miles. It looks well-kept and has a clean MOT record online, but there’s no full service history and the dealer’s not offering much detail beyond what’s on the V5.

Is it worth paying for a proper vehicle history report on one of these? I’ve seen a few VIN report services floating around, but not sure which ones are reliable. Carfax is more of a US thing, right? Are there any decent Carfax alternatives here in the UK that actually show full records like owners, accident history, or mileage discrepancies? Would be helpful before I make the call.

If you have the VIN the official Jaguar service history can be found at Jaguar so if servicing was done at a Dealer or independent garage with a Topix subscription it should show up there.

If there is no history or any gaps, walk away. If its a Diesel, its immensely important that all the Oil changes requested by the car were done and you need assurance that the timing chain is in good condition (either its the new design because the car is new enough, or been replaced).

There is no way to find out what Warranty work has been done, records of that are only kept by the individual dealers who do the work.

I wouldn't recommend buying a used e-Pace without a cast iron warranty with a high claims limit, how you get a warranty without a service history I don't know.

There are a couple of free sites if you have a reg number https://www.carsnitch.co.uk/ or https://www.checkcardetails.co.uk/c...rhX6UDM5ze8CyKFp6&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI--6AxcWkigMV04BQBh2CgAfBEAMYASAAEgLcR_D_BwE

HPI do a paid for check which would give you info about serious accidents or finance outstanding, mileage discrepancies etc

There are plenty E Paces around, so as mattrapier says do not touch without full service history, and be very wary of a diesel. And take out a GOOD warranty (it will be expensive) if you do buy one. Vital.

Is it from a main dealer or an independent? I had a similar case with an XF I nearly bought, looked spotless on the MOT history but the service records were vague. I ended up running it through SmartCarCheck.UK, with the reg no. and it flagged a past insurance claim and a mileage issue that the seller “forgot” to mention. For the cost, it saved me a lot of hassle, so I’d say it’s worth doing before you decide.

Well if i will sell my car it will have full service history : first 3 years from the Jag dealer and afterwards i have invoices from the parts and the service from a local dealer. I guess most important is that the oil changes have been done...certainly for a diesel. But i would walk away from a diesel anyway.
