My D200 was bought at 12 months old with 8500 miles. The oil level was above max - maybe overfilling, or possibly diesel washing in to the oil because of repeated attempted regen of the DPF - i had no idea of the journey history of this car, so decided on an early oil change.
6 litres of Castrol 0W-30 to the correct JLR spec, a filter, a new seal for the sump plug (optional), and a filter removal tool ( 65mm, I used a Toyota one which fits ok).
Remove the left beauty panel at the rear of the engine, and then the filter from above at the rear left of the engine (you will need small hands). It comes out cleanly with the housing. Swop the element and the sealing ring, and replace.
Underneath the car, a fibreboard cover plate has a hatch closed by three rotatable clips.Turn each clip half a turn, and pull the hatch down to reveal the drain plug, which is standard Ford/JLR (13mm socket). Drain the oil and replace the plug.
Fill with 6 litres fresh oil which will take the level to just below max.
Start the engine, check for leaks, and close the hatch. Replace the beauty panel. Job done
