Is the service interval 21000 or 2years on epace 180d auto

#5 ·
My 180d will be two years old in April, and has done 15500 miles, but the service indicator tells me it's due in 1400 miles. Should I book it in for 17000 miles which will be mid March or ignore the indicator?

I would suggest seeing the dealer and getting an appointment just before first reg date,so that you don't exceed 2 yr limit, you probably won't reach 21,000 by then, but will keep the bean counters in warranty department happy,

ok, thanks for that. Will the car do anything if I ignore the 'service in X miles' warning, ie go into limp mode or anything?

I'll ring the dealer to dsicuss anyway

Hi, in the handbook it says that service indicator shows distance to oil service, if distance is exceeded it begins to show negative (-) value to show that service is overdue, doesn't mention going into limp mode

No issue with warranty if genuine parts are used and the correct specification of oil. The difference between the two is the hourly rate and the markup on parts. I find using a local independent results in a more thorough service with wheels off, calipers checked and eased etc. A franchised dealer wants it in and out as quickly as possible and on to the next so only cursory visual inspections are carried out.
Where it might hurt, is were you to sell privately in the future you wouldn't have the Jag stamps in the book but what you lose in the desirability of that, you'd have saved in servicing anyway.

Jag stamps in the book ?
What book ?
It's an on line service book that they print out and give you.

I know it's an online service book, far easier to put "stamps in the book" than "electrinically recorded service record accessible and printable from Jaguar website or your dealer"

Also, would anyone entertain not going back to Jaguar to do the service? Just looked online and can get a 1 year service for around £130. That's more than half the price?!
If your car is still under warranty then you have to be very careful in not going to a JLR dealership for a service. Best read your warranty conditions !

The 1st service is due on my D180 next month and I have been quoted almost £480 by my dealership. I have a local specialist centre (https://www.dsautomotive.co.uk/) who quote this:

'DS Automotive provide Jaguar & Land Rover Servicing to Manufacturers Guidelines, Online Service History updated and Dealer Level Diagnostics and programming for all Jaguar & Land Rover models. Including the Freelander, Evoque, Range Rover, Sport, Discovery and Defender, E-Pace, F-Pace, XE, XF and F-Type.

They only charge £260 for the service! Would going with them cause any problems with warranty or my finance agreement? To be honest, I've had enough of my dealership. I've left 3 messages and haven't had a call back so would rather go elsewhere.

Cheers.

European Block Exemption applies. (For now anyway)

"Block Exemption Regulation is an exemption in a business line or industry, which debars organizations in the industry from some business activities in order to create competition. The regulation is highly known in the automobile industry due to the effect caused by the BER regulations from the European Commission. [1] [2] BER has changed the automobile industry in the last decade. [3] Prior to 2003 automobile owners in the EU region risk nullifying their vehicle warranty when the vehicles were serviced or repaired in workshops not belonging to the vehicle manufacturer or its dealers. This barrier was broken in October 2003, when the European Commission (EC) passed a law allowing vehicle owners the freedom of having their servicing and repairs done at their chosen workshop. [4]
According to the UK Department of Business Education & Skills, the empowerment created by this law provides competition in the automobile industry as vehicle owners now have the opportunity to repair and service their vehicle at alternative workshops to the automobile manufacturers. BER provides automobile users the flexibility and benefit to reduce the amount spent on servicing, thereby providing consumers more choice and better value for money."

The independent garage must adhere to the service schedule and use genuine parts for the warranty to remain intact. Ask them to provide an itemised invoice with relevant part numbers to back up any potential claim under warranty.

I have a P200 that is just rolling round to 12 months.

Service warning has come up stating I need a service in 1500 miles. Will this be an interval or a major service? I've been quoted £330 at Jaguar but this sounds a lot to me?
That's what I paid with my P250 on it's first service!

Well negotiated, congratulations.

I bought my P200 S Santorini Black from Kontz in Luxembourg. Ordered November 2018 delivered March 2019.

Very close now to one year old and I now have 12960k and "oil service" in 550k. I love the car and enjoy it very much.

I have downsized from a BMW X5 diesel where the services were every two years so having to get used to yearly servicing.

I wonder how much Kontz will charge me for this "oil service" It will be interesting to find out.

Phone round my first service was quoted as that from local dealer and when I called around the price was 100 pounds less. Phoned nearby dealer again and eventually price matched.

As for going out with main dealer, I would not give JLR any possible out for warranty work and if you plan on another one it will harm residuals. Yeah I know in theory not but......

Luis.

I think the service price is between £300-400 and it is expensive but it keeps it within the warranty and gives you peace of mind. I personally wouldn't go to a third party within its warranty period. Others do and get it cheaper and good luck to them. I think it's also important to have a good relationship with your dealership 😀
