Valve caps

Post by twabrigs » Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:27 am

Bought these on Amazon for £6.99, they're slightly bling so I might go off them but on balance I think they're quite smart actually. Avoided metal ones as they can bind to the stem, so these are plastic. They might not last anyway so we'll see.

Before and after shots; I thought the grey didn't look good against the black alloys.

Ive been looking for something like this that aren't metal (once had all 4 "weld" them selves to my wife's car) so I avoid metal now.

I will order some - thanks.

the seller is Speed Demons; the red Growler ones are now out of stock (have I triggered a rush of demand?!) but they've got red leapers, gold growlers etc

Hi - some learning to share. I liked the caps but as the car is due in for a service next week I thought I'd take them off and put the originals back in case the aftermarket ones got lost in the workshop or whatever.

Totally seized on. Panic. Internet tales of wrecked TPMS sensors at £50 a pop.

Taking my life in my hands I gently tried pliers on them and the caps creaked, cracked and came off in a shower of white dust. Valve stems intact thankfully.

The caps were definitely plastic albeit hard plastic but they totally seized. They has also lost their nice shine on the outside although the red growler still looked good.

I'm refitting the originals after a scoosh of WD40, and leaving them well alone.

I'd strongly advise against any aftermarket valve caps whether metal or plastic.
