Hi MalcolmD,

I've tried to look at jaguar.com/navigation several times but I can't get to where the map updates are. Do you have a web link for it other than www.jaguar.com/navigation which I have tried but only get to the In-Control info page?

This is what I do each time, on a Mac using Firefox. I have the webpage saved as a shortcut.

https://www.jaguar.co.uk/incontrol/incontrol-user-guide/index.html

Scroll down to Map Updates, Touch Pro, Download map

Go to "maps and Services" in small print bottom right

Select Europe & Russia with 3 year subscription

Click - Get latest version, download map

I then get a box to select "Map Downloader"

Plug in an empty USB stick of a least 32gb capacity and select download

I then also go to energy saving and stop my Mac going to sleep for 3hrs, download usually takes about 2hrs 40mins with fibre connection.

Hope this helps, Malcolm

Here is the link:

Sign in to InControl and scroll down the page a little. There is a link "Go to Maps and Services" below a small map, select this and you should then see the available update. Watch out for the flash drive size though, a 32Gb one may not, after formatting, have enough room for the update which could be bigger than the available space on the drive.

Interestingly, if I use your link my log-in doesn't work, obviously a different route to get the same information but I don't think I have registered on the "here' site!

Hi All.

Can anybody explain to me how one downloads map updates if you do not have a desktop/laptop with a USB port?

All references on here are to download the maps to a USB stick.

I have a an IPAD and an IPhone XS Max neither of which can have a USB stick connected.

Many thanks in advance.

Hhhhhmmmm good point and I don't have the answer myself but I think very soon we should be able to do this via OTA which will be much quicker.

Hope this helps

No, I can't think how you could do that! Perhaps you should go to your dealer and use one of their PCs for 3hrs!! ha ha.
Unfortunately I think you will have to put up 'without of date' maps a for a while!

You log into the "here" web site with your InControl log-in. However, when you finally get there you may find, as I have, that the download file is not "25Gb approx." as indicated but is, currently, 28.9GB. After formatting a new flash drive (Memory stick) in the FAT 32 file system the available space is only 28.6Gb and so the file will not download to the flash drive. As I understand it though Windows 10 can only format in FAT 32 up to 32GB flash drives. Another brick wall I'm afraid.

Earlier in this thread somebody explained what you had to do with windows to get more than 32gb.

You could of course switch to a Mac to solve the problem, a Mac will format whatever the declared capacity is, minus a small amount for system files.

It appears there is an adapter that can transfer files from iphone/android to USB so you may be able to download onto your tablet.

Just a thought??

Yes your right. Currently the Europe one is very close to 32Gb. Microsoft will only format to FAT32

You need to download a programme that will format your 64 Gb USB to FAT and then you can use it to download the maps. I m not at home so I can't remember the name of the rotate but will tell you on Friday

Hi,

Having had the e-pace for 6 months I thought I would update the Sat Nav. Read all the info on here and bought a 64gb usb as the current update is 33gb! Why I would need Russia I don't know. Anyway, took an age to download to usb and went to upload to car. Followed all the steps with car running etc and after about 15mins get message saying "cant update, refer to dealer." but it has also wiped the original maps, so I don't have any maps loaded! Tried again, same thing.

Have wiped the USB and downloaded maps again, so will give it another go tonight.

Am I missing something, any ideas??

There is a map update released every month, so in the 2 years since I bought the car I have probably done 24 monthly updates. Make sure you reformat the USB stick before downloading the update and make sure you have formatted it FAT32. Windows PCs cannot format sticks larger than 32Gb as FAT32 without additional software (I'm a MAC user so don't have that problem). When the update has downloaded I normally plug in the USB stick, start the engine, switch off the stop/start, then follow the update instructions on the screen. I usually go for a drive of about 20mins. Once the update has finished it looks as though the update may have failed, but wait a few minutes then try reloading the navigation app and you should get a message something like "finishing install" then it should spring back to life. Hope that helps.
