Hi apologies for the length of this post,

I purchased a 2020 E-Pace R-Dynamic HSE D 180 AWD about 6 weeks ago. Up to last weekend I was very pleased with it, then I experienced a weird fault. It has mainly been used on short journeys (to/from work and not more than 29 miles and back) but last weekend I drove from Luton Beds to Walsall for a wedding about 85 miles each way.

The problem I experienced was that initially everything was working fine using sat nav with live traffic updates using sim card and listening to my music from USB stick. About 40 minutes into the journey the USB music stopped so I thought that possible USB drive fault so my son connected his phone via the USB port and started to play his music through Android Play now all OK. a few minutes later the sat nav gave a message that live traffic updates not available. went into the connectivity setting to check mobile data status and it was showing sim card not recognised. My son then switched to Google maps through Android Play about 15 minutes later the android play stopped working and USB stopped charging the phone, so just used Google maps without connecting to car.

Got to Walsall, turned off car to attend the wedding. About 3 hours later got back in car and everything started to work OK, After the wedding reception in the evening started to drive back home, everything was working fine and about 45 minutes later the faults repeated again. It was as though the USB and sim card module had stopped working.

Has anyone else experienced this, any advise would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Having the SIM stop working (and with it live traffic) isn't all that unusual, but it usually recovers itself. Combining that with the USB ports failing seems a bit more unusual, and does sound like there is something wrong with it.
The SIM slot and USB ports are a single integrated module that can be replaced, though it is expensive (hundreds), so worth exploring how far you can get under warranty.
As you have had the car such a short time its at least worth telling the dealer about it even if you don't want to get it looked at straight away.

Yes, I experience this. I have been using the USB port for Apple Car play, roughly short distances and last weekend it just dropped the music and now won’t charge or connect. If it connects to charge it is for a second, but it won’t reconnect to my Apple Car play or charge my phon.

I did get mine fixed, the main dealer replaced the sim card and usb module as it's all one unit. That was done last year. On the rare occasion it will lose the usb but then generally it reconnects
